PAV (Push Around Vertical) Training
Course Introduction
The IPAF Push Around Vertical (PAV) training course is designed to instruct operators to prepare and safely operate various types of Push Around Vertical platforms.
All course costs are inclusive of a 5 year IPAF registration (ePAL), FREE parking and unlimited tea / coffee – with great hospitality.
Course Information
- It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a PAV operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used, and be familiar with other types of information sources and relevant legislation
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify steering, driving and braking controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Check all emergency lowering functions
- Safely mount and dismount the machine
- Configure the machine for travel
- Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely on level / rough ground and inclines in open and confined areas
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area, including overhead and underground hazards
- Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out accessing tasks
- Travel with platform raised (where applicable)
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who will be using a PAV as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. It is, however, desirable (but not mandatory) that applicants should be literate and have had driving experience as an indication of dexterity
Novice – This course is designed for the complete novice delegate but will be equally suited to those with experience and those seeking to renew their PAL licence.
IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) training programs are designed to ensure the safe and efficient operation of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). IPAF offers several specific training categories, including IPAF 3a, 3b, and 1b, each tailored to different types of MEWPs and their operation.
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide in the widest sense – through providing technical advice and information; through influencing and interpreting legislation and standards; and through safety initiatives and training programmes.
IPAF is a not-for-profit organisation owned by its members, which include manufacturers, rental companies, distributors, contractors and users. IPAF members operate a majority of the MEWP rental fleet worldwide and manufacture about 85% of platforms on the market.
