Course content
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- A basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and responsibilities as a plant operator
- A working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Location and function of the major components of the machine
- Steering, driving and braking controls and their functions
- Pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Starting and stopping the machine and safely moving the machine
- Configuring the machine for travel and manoeuvring it safely laden and unladen, in open and confined areas
- Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Manoeuvring the machine to the work area and correctly configuring it in readiness to carry out lifting and load handling tasks
- Carrying out lifting and load handling tasks
- Lifting and transfer loads accurately and safely at different locations
- Loading and unloading external transport safely
- Fitting, adjusting and or removing attachments
- Knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
- Carrying out all end of shift and shut down procedures
Who should attend
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who will be using a forklift truck as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements: Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. It is desirable, but not essential, for delegates to be able to read and write and to have some driving experience.
Novice: This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate.
Novice Industrial Counterbalance Course Durations
- for Courses delivered at your premises: 3 People over 5 days, 2 People over 4 days or 1 Person over 3 days.
- for Courses delivered at our Training Centre: 1 Person over 5 days (Up to 3 people)
Experienced: Delegates must have used the equipment regularly in a range of operations for a minimum of 12 months and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of safe operating procedures.
Experienced Industrial Counterbalance Course Durations
- for Courses delivered at your premises: 3 or 2 People over 3 days or 1 Person over 2 days.
- for Courses delivered at our Training Centre: 1 Person over 3 days (Up to 3 people)
Refresher: Delegates must have already attended a course and have valid proof in the form of certification.
