Course Introduction
The NPORS N034 Plant Supervisor Awareness course is a comprehensive training program designed to equip individuals with a fundamental understanding of plant machinery and equipment within the construction industry. Course Information
- It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of plant machinery / equipment, the dangers of working in construction, their responsibilities as a supervisor, selection of work equipment, procedures in order to work safely within the environment
- Have a basic understanding of a supervisor responsibilities and relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including relevant risk assessments method statement and traffic management systems
- Be able to supervise the work safely and identify various hazards including dangers of working in construction and emergency rescue procedures
- Have an underpinning knowledge of the manufacturer’s manual / handbook for the equipment
- Be able to check certification for equipment and accessories including PPE
- Correctly risk assess the task and implement a safe system of work, prepare a step by step method statement including selection of equipment to be used
- Allocate team roles and responsibilities through a toolbox talk / safety briefing
- Oversee task ensuring the team safely follows the step by step safe system of work
- Liaise with management and operators
- Deliver a debrief meeting with the team and discuss any lesson learned during specific task
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who will be required to supervise plant operations as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. It is, however, desirable (but not mandatory) that applicants should be literate and have had driving experience as an indication of dexterity
Novice – This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate.
Experienced – Delegates must have used the equipment in a range of operations for a minimum of 3 months.
Refresher – Delegates must have already attended a course and have valid proof in the form of certification.
