Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator
Course Introduction
This course is meticulously crafted to empower individuals in handling unresponsive casualties and effectively operating automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Participants will acquire essential skills to assess and manage critical situations where prompt action is paramount. The curriculum covers comprehensive techniques for dealing with unresponsiveness, including assessing vital signs and initiating appropriate interventions. Additionally, participants will receive hands-on training in the operation of AEDs, mastering the swift and accurate application of this life-saving device. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical expertise, ensuring participants are well-equipped to respond confidently and effectively in emergency situations. By the course’s conclusion, attendees will possess the competence and confidence to manage unresponsive casualties and utilize AEDs, contributing to a safer and more prepared community.
Course Information
- Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
- Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
- Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator
- Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who have been identified in the company’s first aid risk assessment as being required to provide first aid in the workplace.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. It is, however, desirable (but not mandatory) that applicants should be literate.
Novice – This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate. However, it will be equally suited to those looking to refresh their knowledge.
