Plant Mover

Course Introduction

The NPORS 132 course, focusing on Plant Mover skills, is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive set of abilities crucial for the safe and efficient operation of machinery. The course spans various key aspects, including pre-use inspection and handovers, machinery preparation, safe operation, safety checks at the work area, and proficiency in loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.

One fundamental aspect covered in the course is the importance of pre-use inspection and handovers. Participants will learn how to meticulously examine machinery before operation, ensuring that all components are in proper working order. This not only contributes to the longevity of the equipment but also enhances overall safety. Handovers, a critical communication process, are emphasized to ensure that relevant information about the machinery’s condition and recent maintenance is effectively communicated between operators.

Preparing machinery for use is another vital skill imparted by the course. Participants will gain knowledge and hands-on experience in getting machinery ready for operation, considering factors like fueling, lubrication, and overall functionality. This proactive approach minimizes the risk of malfunctions during operation and contributes to a smoother workflow.

Safety takes centre stage throughout the course, with a focus on operating machinery in a secure manner. This includes understanding and implementing necessary safety checks specific to the work area. Participants will learn how to identify potential hazards, implement precautionary measures, and create a secure environment for both themselves and others in the vicinity.

Moreover, the course delves into the intricacies of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the steps involved in securely moving machinery from one location to another. This includes proper securing methods, weight distribution considerations, and adherence to transportation regulations.
