PASMA Low Level Access
Course Introduction
This half-day course is intended for users of low-level access equipment (< 2.5m) made from prefabricated components, such as podium step units and folding tower units. The course gives an overview of regulations, legislation and product standards and covers current best practices, inspection of low-level access units and hazards to be avoided in depth.
PASMA, which stands for the Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association, is renowned for its commitment to promoting safety and best practices in the use of mobile access towers. The “PASMA Towers for Users” training course epitomizes this commitment by equipping delegates with essential knowledge and practical skills. These skills enable them to work with mobile access towers in a secure, efficient, and compliant manner, aligning with industry standards and regulations.
Course Information
- It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- How to safely assemble and dismantle low level access equipment including 3T method
- How to safely use low level access equipment
- How to inspect low level access equipment
- How to identify hazards relating to their use
- Work at Height responsibilities of employers, employees and suppliers
- Standards affecting the manufacture and use of low level access equipment
- Where to find crucial safety information
- When it is & isn’t safe to use low level access equipment
- Carrying out pre-use checks and post assembly inspections on low level access equipment
- The components used in low level access equipment
- Good practices for the safe use of low level equipment
- Accessing a platform safely
- Moving low level access equipment
- Identifying hazards in the work environment
- Avoiding personal health hazards
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who will be using Low-Level Access equipment as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. Delegates will be required to set up and use low-level access equipment as part of the course.
Novice – This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate but it is equally suitable for delegates with industry experience and those looking to renew their PASMA Card.

Representing the interests of manufacturers, suppliers, specifiers and users, it provides and oversees the industry standard training scheme and is a major publisher of safety-related knowledge, information and guidance.
