Hedge Trimmer Training Course Information
- It is envisaged that by the end of this hedge trimmer training course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular equipment to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the equipment and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Select suitable type of equipment relative to the work being undertaken
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for hedge trimmer use
- Prepare the hedge trimmer for use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Have an awareness of working at different heights
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of hand held trimmers
- Disposal of trimmed materials
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down and maintenance procedures
Those who are required to operate a Hedge Trimmer as part of their work duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
Novice – This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate.
Experienced – Delegates must have used the equipment in a range of operations for a minimum of 3 months.
Refresher – Delegates must have already attended a course and have valid proof in the form of certification.
Experienced Worker Test (EWA) – Delegates must have used the equipment in a range of operations for a minimum of 2 years.
