N100 - Excavator as a Crane (Bolt-On)

Course Introduction

The NPORS 100 course, known as “Excavator as a Crane,” is a specialized training program designed for qualified crane operators looking to expand their skillset. This course equips participants with the necessary knowledge and expertise to perform lifting operations using an excavator. While traditional cranes are commonly used for lifting heavy objects, the Excavator as a Crane course enables operators to leverage the capabilities of excavators for similar tasks.

One of the key components of this course is the development of proficiency in understanding and using approved signals. Effective communication through signals is critical to ensure safe and precise lifting operations. Participants will also learn how to interpret rating charts, which provide essential information about the excavator’s lifting capacity under various conditions. This knowledge is crucial for maintaining safety and preventing accidents during lifting activities.

Handling a variety of weights and sizes is a central aspect of the NPORS 100 course. Participants will learn how to assess the load’s weight and dimensions and make appropriate adjustments to the equipment and lifting techniques accordingly. This adaptability is essential in real-world scenarios, where the types and sizes of loads can vary significantly.

Ultimately, the NPORS 100 course not only imparts the necessary technical skills for using an excavator as a crane but also instills a strong emphasis on safety and responsible operation. It equips crane operators with the competence and confidence needed to excel in a broader range of lifting operations, expanding their career opportunities and contributing to overall workplace safety.

By completing this course, participants will be better prepared to take on the challenges of the construction and heavy machinery industry, ensuring that lifting operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.
