PASMA Towers on Stairways for Users
Course Introduction
Towers on stairs teaches delegates how to build stepped towers. The course covers current legislation, regulations and guidance for towers in general, and focuses on hazards specific to using them on stairs. Both theory and practical sessions are held during this full-day course.
PASMA, which stands for the Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association, is renowned for its commitment to promoting safety and best practices in the use of mobile access towers. These skills enable them to work with mobile access towers in a secure, efficient, and compliant manner, aligning with industry standards and regulations.
Participants in the PASMA Towers for Users course receive comprehensive instruction on tower assembly, safe dismantling, and moving procedures. They are also well-versed in tower inspection and ensuring that towers remain in optimal condition throughout their use. The course encompasses both the 3T system, assembling the tower from the seating and the Advance Guardrail system, which incorporates built-in guardrails for added safety.
Course Information
- It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- How to safely assemble, dismantle, alter and stairway towers
- How to safely use stairway towers
- How to inspect stairway towers
- How to identify hazards relating to their use
- What legislation, regulations and guidance are applicable to these towers
- Work at height responsibilities, employers, employees & suppliers
- Standards affecting the manufacture and use of stairway towers
- Where to find crucial safety information
- When it is & isn’t safe to use a stairway tower
- Carrying out pre-use checks and post-assembly inspections
- The components used in a stairway tower
- Good Practices for the safe use of stairway towers
- Accessing a platform safely
- Identifying hazards in the work environment
- Avoiding personal health hazards
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who will be using Access Towers on Stairways as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness. Delegates will be required to climb to height during the course.
Novice – Novice – This course is designed for someone who has completed PASMA Towers for users but is a novice with towers on stairs however it is equally suitable for delegates with industry experience and those looking to renew their PASMA Card.

Representing the interests of manufacturers, suppliers, specifiers and users, it provides and oversees the industry standard training scheme and is a major publisher of safety-related knowledge, information and guidance.
