Safe use of Ladders
Course Introduction
N711 – Safe Use of Stepladders and Ladders – course is designed to instruct delegates to be able to understand where and when the use of ladders is appropriate in the working environment, and how to correctly select and set up and use the ladders.
Course Information
- It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for forward tipping dumper use
- Prepare the forward tipping dumper for use and operate safely and efficiently
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Attach and set trailers, ready for operation
- Environmental considerations
- Storage and transport of implements and attachments
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who will be using a ladders and/or Step ladders as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
Novice – This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate, however, it will be equally suited to those looking to refresh their knowledge.
